Anyone who suffers from male pattern baldness will attest to it being an absolute confidence destroyer as well as what feels like a losing battle. Every time a balding person combs their hair to try and cover up a thin patch, they uncover another, or they find more dead hairs in their comb than last time.

There are some things we can do, however, to help fight the battle. First of all, we need to be looking after our hair before we notice the symptoms of male pattern baldness. Once we spot a widow’s peak or a bald patch, the battle is 90% over. Regularly shampooing and conditioning hair with nutritional and revitalising shampoo will inject nutrients into our hair and follicles, making our body realise the scalp is doing hard work. Hair will continue to be produced and live healthily, and healthily also means longer.

But if we have seen symptoms already, all is not necessarily lost. There are a range of revitalising oils, shampoos, creams and ointments that contain ingredients known to encourage healthy hair production. If we still have hair on our head, it means we still have time, and whilst the results of these remedies are often mixed, many people have reported that they slow down baldness and in some cases actually encourage hair to grow again in previously dead areas.

The way that we handle our hair is also important. If we get up in the morning and run a coarse brush through straggly hair, we are going to pull a fair few out before their time. Similarly, if we scold our head with a hot shower and run our nails over our follicles, we are basically damaging our scalp. We need to treat our head and hair with gentleness and pamper it as much as we can with healthy ingredients. The more we look after our scalp and hair, the longer the body will consider that part of our head to be functioning, and the longer we will see healthy hair production on our scalps. This includes avoiding sunburn. Our hair and scalp deserve more.
