There is a lot of conjecture over what does and doesn’t work in the battle against baldness. It is true that once baldness has started to show itself and creep in, it is definitely harder to fight, and often the sufferer finds themselves resorting to hair transplants or ‘plugs’. However, there are a number of homeopathic remedies that are said to encourage healthy hair growth and prevent balding.

Fish oil is a very popular treatment, in that it contains many of the nutrients that are found inside our hair. In simple terms rather than being useful as an external shampoo or oil, ingesting fish oil supplements will strengthen hair from the inside. Stronger hair will always live longer.

Ginseng is another homeopathic remedy that, whilst not scientifically proven, is widely lauded as an excellent hair strengthener and baldness prevention supplement. Its main active ingredient, ginsenosides, is considered to be one of the most useful natural hair remedies.

Onion juice is now also being regularly used, although it does admittedly smell very strong. Given that the purer the onion juice, the better the effect, it is not one of the most popular options, but it has been shown to promote keratin growth factor and increased blood flow to hair cuticles. It is suggested that pure onion juice is rubbed into the scalp and left for at least 15 minutes before it is shampooed out.

Continuing in the trend of natural fruit and vegetable based remedies, lemon juice it is also worth considering. Lemon is considered to strengthen the hair itself, rather than the scalp, so is more effective in fighting hair degradation rather than male pattern baldness, but it is still effective.

Like any remedy, better results will appear over time. It is not worth putting on onion oil for a month and then switching to lemon, and it can be frustrating sticking with one method for several months to see if it works or not. But the alternative is very often just certain baldness, so the only question really is what you have to lose by not trying natural remedies.
